Abstract

From elderberry shrubs (Sambucus nigra L.) with marked symptoms of virus infection two viruses were simoultaneosly isolated: Cherry leaf roll virus (CLRV) and Tobacco rattle virus (TRV). The viruses were identified on the basis of results of biological assays and ELISA tests.

Diseased elderberry shrubs represent long-term reservoir of mixed virus infection from which viruses could transmitted by vectors to other woody as well as herbaceous plants in green urban zones. We realized that if appropiate protection measures are not taken in the near future, it may lead to the decline of woody plantations and other drastic consequences to public green areas in Sarajevo and its surroundings.
