Abstract

There are many different methods of forest resource valuation in the world today. Val-
ues of market and non-market products and services that the forests give in manage-
ment unit "(Gornja Stavnja" are estimated using combination of known methods.
According to the results, the value of the multiple-use forest functions is about 73 in
total economic value of the forest, while all others (value of the growing slock, forest
roads, and forestland) participate with about 27%.

The evaluation of the multiple-use forest function is very important, since it is only
way to find out real forest value. Future methods of forest evaluation should be based
on estimation of damages costs caused by deforestation and associated issues (lack of
clear water, climate change, erosion, air pollution, diseases following air pollution,
lack ol products or services provided by forests and many other damages) to contribute
forest protection and preserve lor present and future generations.
