Abstract

Sessile oak forests of submediterran studed in Slovenia (Adriadic coast) and Italy
(area of Trieste golf) are named Seslerio autumnalis - Quercetum petraeae Pold.
(1964.) 1982. Communities of sessile oak forests on gabro stone were studied in the
south of Bosnia-Herzegovina (submediterran around Jablanica town) during two
years period (1999 and 2000) and results of this work is discussed here. Composition
of flora and phytosociological community was determined on base of Braun-Blanquet
methodology. During this study it was found that: about 12% of plant species belong
to acidic; 28% to mesic; and 38% to xeric forest vegetation community; while about
22% belong to community of shrubs and grasslands. Relatively equal presents of
mesic and xeric species is significant. Obtained results show that studed communities
are on micro locality, which is suitable for mesic and acid plants. Growth of xeric
plants in these communities is expected, since they belong to this geographical posi-
tion and the macroclimate. The studied vegetation community may not be clasified
within previously described forests communities of sessile oak: acid (Quecion robori
-petraeae
Br.-Bl. 1931.) and basic (Orno-Quercion serpentinicum Horv. 1963.). It
seems that studed forest community should belong to a separated systematic category
of mesoxeric community.
