Mathematical formula for logical-graphically equated curve line

Many of used functions of the growth in the forestry science and practice do not have
mathematical formula and the functions are commonly equal on the logical-graphical-
ly way. The volume table for the silver-fir (Abies alba Mill.) in Bosnia, prepared by
Matic (1963) which is based on five quality classes (contains five quality curves of
height) was made on that way. This work presents the method for establishing value
of parameters for the growth function of silver-fir in the first quality class using PC
program Microsoft Excel. Using this method it is possible to obtain results with the
practical worth and in addition the method is fast and simple. Thus the calculation of
data collected in field become much easier for the forest inventory. The values of para-
meters of any of interesting functions related to forestry may be also established on
this way. Mathematical formula obtained on this way, worth in the area 7- 90 cm of
diameter, is:
